SolveSB: Housing Ideathon

Please join our local South Bend community by participating in their second "ideathon" event this January 2023: SolveSB: Housing ideathon.

This creative brainstorming event is sponsored by the City of South Bend's Department of Community Investment, supported by FIRE, and is open to all local high school students, college-age young adults, community members, and professionals.

The ideathon lets individuals work together to solve an existing problem and this upcoming topic is focused on housing costs and sustainable development in South Bend. The competition format includes: 1) a kickoff event with the announcement of the problem statement on January 12th, 2) two optional work sessions, and 3) a final presentation to a panel of judges on January 28th.

This is the second "ideathon" hosted by the City. This past summer, the inaugural topic was focused on finding solutions to increasing transportation: "How might we increase the amount of residents that move about the city on bike, by walking, or rolling?" Here is a recap of the event including the top three entries and related prizes.

You may sign up as a solo entrant or with one other partner. Partnered registrants must each complete a form. Teams of 3-5 will be created by South Bend's program staff and partners will be placed on a team together. Registration is due by Friday, January 6, 2023.
